Made largely using a homemade synthesizer(!) consisting of 12 oscillators and an assortment of sound filters, telegraph keys, radio parts, lab gear & more, Silver Apples' self-titled debut was so far ahead of its time that it sounds fresh 50 years on. As consistent as it is innovative, each track piles together to create a sum that is almost hypnotic.
In their essentially one single year as a functional band, they managed to enamor their greatest contemporaries (Hendrix & Lennon), influence nearly every electronic act that came after them and record two classic albums all before disappearing entirely.
