The Ascension by Glenn Branca (1981)

One of the greatest guitar albums ever, The Ascension plays with noise and atmosphere masterfully. I've always seen it as a continuation of jazz's greatest experimenters work that cements the foundation of legendary bands to come, such as Sonic Youth, Swans and the Pixies.
