During a stint of writer's block, David Byrne took on a stream of consciousness lyrical style that was inspired by early hip hop and was an exceptional pairing to the band's polyrhythmic, Afrobeat infused, psych punk sound for their fourth studio album. Both incredibly joyful and serious, Remain in Light "yields scary, funny music to which you can dance and think, think and dance, dance and think ad infinitum" per Rolling Stone's Ken Tucker.
