Easily the most cohesive outing by the genre-bending, endlessly underestimated Ween — The Mollusk draws on everything from (brace yourself) celtic rock, country, cowpunk, electronica, 17th century folk music, jazz, new wave, progressive rock, psychedelia, punk, soft rock, symphonic rock, show tunes, surf rock, sea shanties and vaudeville. To say the absolute least, it works.
Bonus bit: Stephen Hillenberg, of SpongeBob SquarePants fame, cites The Mollusk as a chief influence on the show's creation, used the album's 'Ocean Man' in the SpongeBob move and had Ween write/record the classic "Loop de Loop".
