Alessandro Michele's first Gucci show was a moment. Fashion loves a debut.
He left quotes from the great the Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben on everybody's seats at the show: "Those who are truly contemporary are those who neither perfectly coincide with their time nor adapt to its demands… Contemporariness, then, is that relationship with time that adheres to it through a disconnection." Talk about putting it all on the line.
This is a youthful, colorful and deeply vintage inspired collection. People complained that it lacked sophistication at the time and I think they've been largely forced to eat their words. This set trends into motion and payed a huge role in what has become of luxury menswear.
