Hipster Runoff

2007 to 2013

Run by the enigmatic (and anonymous) Carles, Hipster Runoff mocked, satirized but somehow also ultimately defined indie 'culture' of the era. Credited with coining 'bloghouse' and 'chillwave' among a million other fake genres.

This was a few times a week kinda blog until 2010, when Carles started "The Alt Report" and began posting multiple times a day. In 2011, he went one step further by starting "The Mainstreamer", written in a different tone of voice and using Comic Sans as a font.

The Lana Del Report, Deep V from Am Appy, alt, lamestreamer, buzzband, //////, mnstrm, entry level, personal brand, zany, helvetty—this is core millennial stuff right here.

Unfortunately for society, Carles stopped posting in 2013 and sold the blog in 2015. RIP.
