Fernweh

Fernweh translates to far-pain or farsickness, but colloquially refers to a deep, often melancholic longing for distant places, new experiences, or to escape everyday life. It is the opposite of Heimweh (homesickness). Similar to the, also German, wanderlust — but without all of the baggage that term has picked up over the years.
