Cut from sessions held over the course of 4 years from 1947-1951, Genius of Modern Music, Vol. 2 is among the greatest jazz recordings ever. Obviously Monk is a huge deal, but he was avant enough that it took decades after decades for the mainstream to catch up, and even then, most don't look far beyond Monk's Music, Solo Munk or Monk's Dream.
