Diz and Getz by Dizzy Gillespie and Stan Getz (1955)

Although long seen as polar opposites: the East Coast hot (Dizzy) vs. the West Coast cool (Getz), these two meshed together exceptionally well and pushed each other to their respective peaks.

This is a beautiful album that really highlights the spirit of collaboration but in a way that respects a certain causal genius rather than something stuffy or ultra refined.
