Red Clay by Freddie Hubbard (1970)

Red Clay is an example of a beloved album by the jazz heads but not even cracking the top five of most well known releases by Freddie Hubbard. This was his first shift into a soul-jazz fusion that would end up becoming his staple for the remainder of the decade.

A stone cold classic, filled with surprises (like a 10 minute cover of a John Lennon song) and featuring an all star lineup, that changed the course of trumpet playing forever.
