Another transcendent outro that closes out an album, gold star outro, 'Does Not Suffice' references the earlier track 'In California,' the last time that Joanna separated herself from her lover, to back the careful inventory she takes as she packs her things to move out.
She, in great detail, describes elaborate clothing, fabric and jewelry as if to suggest an admission of being high maintenance. The record begins with ‘Easy’, and in this song, she admits “how easy I was not.”
The ending's wistful 'la la la's drift further and further away, echoing in an empty room she is leaving behind. The last minute says more about relationships, without words, than 99% of lyrics have ever been able to.
Outro begins at 5:20
