Deerhunter prove themselves as not only masters of the outro, but masters of the album ending (gold star) transcendent outro with this other example (beyond Twilight at Carbon Lake). Written as a tribute to the late, great garage rock hero Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr, (Jay Reatard) — the seven and half minute song turns upward into an ascending dreamy haze, that meditates on life and loss before cutting off prematurely. Fitting.
