Defined as "the practice of complete honesty without telling even white lies", the phrase was trademarked in 1997 as a technique and self-improvement program based on the bestselling book by Brad Blanton.
Blanton's programs argue against the moralism in honesty and instead promote the practice as a means of reducing stress, deepening connections with others, and reducing reactivity.
I can completely understand the merit of the moral argument, as well as Blanton's more pragmatic take but if I'm being radically honestly myself, this is not for me. Bless your heart if you're not only strong enough to lead this life yourself but to also be loved in this way.
