Talk about an expertly soundtracked and supervised film. That sentence holds true for most of PTA's work but this one in particular is stacked.
"Jessie's Girl" and "99 Luftballons" to a shoot out, "Boogie Shoes" during a newfound success montage, "Spill The Wine" during this masterpiece scene or "God Only Knows" during the wrap-up montage. All would be the best of their respective films if separated. But this is Boogie Nights baby and the crown jewel goes to the impossibly tense drug deal scene that just builds and builds and builds along side "Sister Christian". The scene refuses to back down in the same exact way the song does and the audience wins (or I guess loses in some ways) as a result.
