Sharpie's Peel‑Off China Marker (also known as a grease pencil, the name came from its historic use to crop transparencies for bone/porcelain china publication) features a thick, waxy core that marks on any surface —china, glass, metal, plastic, photographs, films, and much more.

The 'marker' has an added bit of fun interactivity — to reveal more of the core, you pull the string and peel away the paper.
