The relationship between taste, power, and psychological submission is about as Enter Fugue as it gets. Its interiors and architecture are spectacular, but are never wholly innocent. Beauty becomes a language of fascism, social aspiration, repression, and the desire to disappear into whatever the era has declared 'normal'. It is a film about the political danger of wanting to fit the room.
